My First Post
Saturday, April 26, 2003
Well, howdy-doodah, here's my first post on my public blog. I finally got off my butt and created it - woo hoo! It's intended to be a place for friends, family, colleagues... anyone who'll listen! I've been running two other blogs for a while now that have much narrower purposes and focused audiences: a personal journal that no one else but me sees (I know what you're thinking and no, you're not the exception), and a work-related one I created in the hopes that it would spark collaboration on web-related issues. One is free therapy and a record of my life, the other was an idealistic stab at building a web team. I still think it was a good idea - maybe it would work better in a different workplace or situation, just like the way IM is a great collaborative tool for friends closer to my age and nothing but a distraction for the older fogies. Technology can definitely highlight generational gaps sometimes. Ah, we're barely one paragraph into the first post of this damn thing and I'm already rambling! At least I'm consistent... Tonight I grabbed a quick dinner with some of Ally's friends at their new place, that was fun. Everyone was in a quick time crunch because some were going out to Ben Harper afterwards, which worked out great for me because I had to meet Franky Frank right after to go see Better Luck Tomorrow. Although the film was just plain okay and I can't recommend anyone see it, what was cool was that all three of Frank's roommates were very spontaneous and down for going out, so we ended up being a group of five. They seemed like nice guys and I'm glad I met them. Also, my friend Jimmy was in the movie! How cool is that? He had totally small non-speaking bit parts, but hey. The other time that happened was when I watched The Royal Tenenbaums with Aimee in a New York theater and some old dance partner of hers popped up on screen. That was neato as well. Afterwards, chilling at home, I watched Igby Goes Down, a film I've been wanting to see for a few months. Now that was a good movie, I highly recommend it. You may have to be in just the right temperment for it and I was: relaxed and moody. This weekend is shaping up to be a full one, despite my best efforts at being less social. Tomorrow morning is pickup soccer with a group of guys that start a new indoor season at the end of May, then there's a free music festival that a few friends and I might go to, then at night I'm going to open mike poetry with Megg. Sunday is spring cleaning with the roommates, including of course a break in the afternoon for a few soccer games. Looks like things don't slow down for me again until Sunday night.related links, photos and blog posts elsewhere on the web: fun, blog, sandiego, soccer, movies, music
