Woo-hoo! This morning I am leaving SD with Tenaya to go white water drowning rafting and camping up north at the King's River near Fresno. We're meeting up with Franky Frank, Aidan and the rest up there at the end of our 7 hour road trip. I don't have a CD player, so Tenaya better get real interesting! Glen might be in the car too, I'll find out tomorrow. I haven't gotten all natureyishlike or even been out of town in ages, this should really hit the spot. I think this is the first time rafting for pretty much everyone in our group - we'll see if that adds to the enjoyment factor or the fatality rate. Maybe both. I saw the two-hour finale of an excellent show on PBS last night called Manor House. It was excellent, truly addictive. It's a cross between a Real World-style reality series and a history lesson, since everyone in the house has to pretend they're in 1905 Edwardian England. The extremely rigid heirarchies and the near complete disconnect of the upstairs folk from the servants' lives highlighted some uncomfortable parallels with modern day life. Maybe I'll rant on that sometime, I'm just not in the mood to bust out the soapbox tonight. I was late to the party in discovering this show, just catching the previous episode and the one last night. It's the first TV show I've ever been tempted to buy the DVD set for. I dunno - the thought of owning a box set of a PBS series makes me feel a bit more adult than I'd like to admit to, thank you very much. It's like admitting I listen to NPR or classical music. Oh crap, I did it again. Man, wtf has happened to me? Camping, rafting, BBC, NPR, league bowling, classical music, computer clubs, drinking tea and working in IT... could I get any whiter? What the hell is next, tucking in my shirt, playing golf and driving a BMW? Ugh. I've gotta work on getting some brown pride. Maybe later. After this weekend. For sure.
