Have A Great Nightmare
Man, I saw some trippy shit last night that made Tool videos look like pleasant pop rock in comparison. Michaella and I went down to the Ken to see first and second installments of
the Cremaster series, the five experimental art films made by Matthew Barney. He considers himself a sculptor and his work was
on display at the Guggenheim, which means I probably should have known right then that I was in trouble. I'm glad I saw it though, there were some interesting visuals (to say the least) and thought-provoking themes that provided good conversation afterwards. Michaella was quite taken by the installation pieces she saw at the Guggenheim in May and tried to put what we saw into context for me, although I felt comfortable in expressing my near-complete incomprehension of the film's intent. If it was to ruin a good night's sleep though, good job, mission accomplished, since I woke up with some pretty unpleasant loops running through my head.
