Inspired by
Joi Ito's test post to his blog using
the Atom API Plugin for
Quicksilver, I decided to try this out on my work laptop and wallah - here it is! This is so cool, it's my first post to Blogger without having to go through the web browser. Wow, now I'm using TextEdit and have nifty things like underlined spell checking, warnings before quitting an unfinished document, no web connection necessary, undo, oh yes I said undo. Typical web designer - I forgot all the cool things desktop software can do...
I haven't wanted to use an old school desktop application to maintain a blog for a variety of reasons (money, being locked into a single vendor, being locked into a single computer to do updates) and for the most part the weblog world seems to have agreed, using server-based stuff like Blogger or Movable Type, but that doesn't mean I haven't missed a lot of the features of even the most basic desktop apps have. So cool, this merges the best of both worlds; the richness of offline software and reach of online applications.
I'll keep trying this out on my work computer for now, since my bought-with-my-own-damn-money iBook is still on Jaguar because it's a pokey G3 and probably too slow for Panther.
