I'm blogging live! I'm sure this has never been done before... ;) The title of this post and the sentence above were blogged live on the big screen earlier this morning, demonstrating the Blogger interface to an audience at Center Hall 101. Thanks to the Campus LISA crowd for the great turnout and participation at my weblogging session - I really enjoyed it and hope you all found it interesting. I've been doing this for the last three (!) years now and this was a great showing - there were a lot of new faces, great conversations and energy this year. For the audience and anyone else interested, here's my notes from the talk. You can use the Opera browser in full screen mode like I did during the lecture if you want to see it in all its Powerpoint-like glory, but in all honesty, I made the slides fairly light overviews on purpose to avoid boring read-alongs and act as points to jump off into demonstrations. Yes, I'm influenced by Edward Tufte and believe it or not, way back in the upper decks of the back row, Gary Hoffman started waving around the very anti-Powerpoint text I was referencing! I was impressed to say the least. Anyway, what the notes are doing up on the web is for the links to the websites and software that I mentioned, that might prove useful to a few folks. Also, my friend Jason taped the whole 50 minute presentation and I'll post a link here as soon as that's ready, within about a week or so. He's got a pretty sweet setup for his day job, where students can tape lectures and display the slides side-by-side with the actual video feed. I'm going to take screenshots of my slides for him to use - I can't wait to see how that works.
