You know, I've wondered about the utility of blog posts that are just lists of links (great example), but then I realized: the utility to whom? There's nothing wrong with a blog entry being a brain dump for later and being intended for my eyes only, with benefits to friends being an optional extra. Not every piece of writing has to be for other people. In fact, not everything you do in life has to be for other people, does it? I forget sometimes in this uber-connected age, something perhaps blindingly obvious to others. Like people even more selfish than me.
This mini-rant was spurred by my observation that an increasing function of this space has been to act as an add-on to my brain, like a Personal Life Recorder, if you will. Cool, I feel smarter already. Note to the markup geeks - I tend to use the title attribute in my links to save space and flesh out more info. In English for non-markup geeks - I usually hide a little extra information that you can see if you hover over them for a few seconds.
