Update Again: I uploaded more poker photos to Flickr and made a set out of them, complete with descriptions. Click on the image or go here to see all seven of them, leave comments, etc: Trav's poker by candlelight
Update: I forgot to include my Flickr home page, here it is: http://flickr.com/photos/alabut/
My first Flickr post - rock on! Click on the image for a larger view.
For those that don't know, Flickr is a photo sharing service that is very geek-friendly, allowing you to do things like publish RSS feeds, batch upload images from iPhoto and like I did here, post images simultaneously to both your Flickr home page and your weblog. I'm loving how the feed to this blog is becoming more and more of a collection point of all of my interests, with all of these things automatically spliced into it: photos through Flickr, sites I find interesting and my commentary on them with my del.icio.us bookmarks, and my written ramblings about digital and offline activites through Blogger.
This shot is from a weekly poker game my friend Trav has been running since August and the power went out about an hour into this week's game, so champs that we are, we went on playing by candlelight. I didn't do so well, but it was still an entertaining night - Greg Willis picked my pocket for a healthy sum with a starting hand of two five offsuit - he flopped quad twos for Chrissakes! - and I had a really embarrassing showdown with Travis, embarrassing because I misread my hand and thought I had two pair (which would have milked him for all of his money) but instead I actually only had a pair of Aces. So did he, with a better kicker and I had to buy in again. Ouch.
